The contractor came back today. He pulled up the linoleum in the dining room half of the kitchen. He's putting in these large, cream-colored, ceramic-looking tiles. It looks very nice but promises to be cold as hell on the feet. I think I'm going to buy a couple of big rag rugs to put down in the kitchen. Dealing with the disruption has taught me that a house can be empty and disorganized at the same time. It doesn't help that the guy likes to leave the garage door open, either. Fortunately, the furnace is in the den and the living room area. I still have no shower. The new wall section must be painted and the door mounted first. The utility room floor still needs tile. Until that happens, the washing machine and the utility sink sit in the garage. If anyone is looking for chaos, it has moved in with me.
In a few minutes, when everyone is finished eating, we are going to brave the elements. I have decided that what we all need is a trip to Wal-Mart to pick up "Pirates of the Caribbean," before we all go stir-crazy from this tormenting torrent. After that, the minors sack out and I get to watch another recommended movie. I've been expanding my cinematic range, these past couple of days. I have been terribly surprised by some things I never would have thought that I would find interesting, but that is a later entry.
