Friends are wonderful too, parents know best, and that's what I get for listening to strangers...

That's weird. Names and such missing. minstrel70 - 33 - Harry Chapin, "Taxi"

A fellow Harry Chapin fan? Excellent!

I'm still trying to figure out how the silly meme decided that a 33-year-old with a taste for classic folk/rock/ballads is "hot" and "needs a fuck buddy." Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here, but if strangers think I'm hot, would I not have a fairly easy time finding the fuck buddy?

I thought perhaps you were being ingenious by making your own version up. Now it truly is classic.

Do you really want a fuck buddy? Ick! ;)

Fear not, he's an Objectivist, as am I. We're notorious for not gratuitously chasing women.

Er, um... You might wish to consult mysticblaze regarding my skirt-chasing proclivities. I'm probably not your typical Objectivist in that regard.

I chase. I just don't often catch. :)

I chase. I just don't often catch.

No, this just proves my point. If you were an indescriminate fuck-beast, you'd probably "score" a hell of a lot more. Unless I misread you, you're not someone who uses "getting laid" as an indicator of his manhood. You're not trying to prove yourself through sex, as if a "conquest" can somehow make you into anything more than you already are.

Perhaps I misunderstood your point, then. You are quite correct: I don't measure my manhood in conquests. I chase skirts because I'm terminally heterosexual, and catch them rarely because I'm terribly choosy. But once I've found someone, it's far more important to me to stay with her than to move on and add another notch to the bedpost. If that was the general sense of your comment, then you are completely correct, Sir.

Ooh! I must salud you on this candid comment.

Well done. Well done indeed.

Of course that was the general sense of my comment. The nature of sex was one of those things about which Rand and I have very little disagreement.

digging back into his books in search of Rand's discourse on sex

At least we understand each other, if tangentially!

I have the discussion of "skirt chasing" between Hank Rearden and Francisco D'Anconia from Atlas Shrugged transcribed into electronic format. I'm considering posting it and commenting on it as an entry sometime in the near future. Don't know exactly when I'll get around to it, but it will probably be soon.

Dear God, Sir, isn't the Reardon - D'Anconia discourse something like 20 pages long in print? You may as well try to paraphrase John Galt's monologue!

I'll plead New Year's Eve excess and beg your temporary indulgence, until such time as we can spar on equal terms!

I also have Galt's chapter-long monologue, from the "This Is John Galt Speaking" chapter, as well as Francisco's "Money Speech" transcribed! Heh!

Well...I sort of have one, actually. Which makes the meme all the more ridiculous. But your point is well-taken: it's not my ideal companionship situation.

I wouldn't think so. Just recalling something from my past. Just once mind you. Didn't really know what I was getting into, but he really didn't the poor man, but knowing he's a past/recent manho made me feel better. OOPS! ;)

I just downloaded the Chapin song a couple days ago! Yipe.

The version on "Greatest Stories Live" is the best, imho. And talk about coincidences!

Heh heh heh. Infectious isn't it?
