We've both lived long enough to know that we'd trade it all right now for just one minute of...

Love and sex are two distinctly different things which must be consciously integrated by act of will in order for a person to be psychologically and philosophically healthy. Why is this so? It is because while sex and love are not the same and are distinctly different, human beings are integrated, mind and body, flesh and spirit, by nature. We are not split by nature, and cannot split ourselves, but we can dis-integrate our behaviors and separate spiritual love from physical attraction and sexual response. Nevertheless, it is not moral, not good for our continuing flourishing and happiness as integrated human beings, to separate the fulfillment of our spiritual and physical needs in this way when the context is a romantic relationship.
