EveningWe finally have an SUV. After all of the wrangling and waiting, it is too late to set out tonight. Crystal informs me that I was wrong about the reservation. Our reservation is good as long as we check-in before 1:00 PM tomorrow, so that is one less thing to worry us. The "natives" are restless and regard this as a bad omen.
We got a great deal on the SUV. Enterprise has been pretty good to us and we've rented several cars from them, usually while ours was in the shop. Since we had to wait around so long for them to get us an SUV, and all they could come up with was a luxury one, they let us rent it for the price of a mid-range. This is a pretty good deal, considering we gave them such short notice. Everyone is happy.
We stopped at Wal-mart for some batteries for the camera and the lanterns. We start out tomorrow at 5:00 AM or so when we load up the greenish-gold Infinity QX4 SUV and hit the road.
The SUV is an interesting little buggy. It's got electronic everything. The instrument panel is fully digital, LED and LCD or vaccuum flourescent. The interior temperature setting and external temperature are displayed, the mirrors, windows, door locks, seats and sun roof are electronically controlled. It has a 6 disk changer CD in the stereo, as well as cassette. It has a digital display compass in the dashboard. The only analog device in the whole vehicle is that signature circular face analog clock that Infinity puts in their vehicles. It's an interesting SUV. I'd get one, if I could justify it in the budget. It's nice, but the color would have to be different though.
